Pigadia
Karpathos or Pigadia, as it is also known is the capital and port of the island, located on the southeast side. It is built in the same place as the ancient city Poseidio. Hilltop remains of the ancient acropolis and the Cyclopean walls.
The town of Karpathos is a modern town. Most of the houses and public buildings are new and built by American expat who every summer holiday on the island.
